NMAC Statement on New Appointments to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced today the appointment of eight new members to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the independent panel whose recommendations help shape access to preventive health services for millions of Americans.
For the HIV community, the work of the Task Force has significant implications. The USPSTF currently gives pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, its highest recommendation for adolescents and adults at increased risk of acquiring HIV. That recommendation plays an important role in ensuring access to PrEP without cost-sharing for many people with private health insurance.
As the newly constituted Task Force begins its work, NMAC will closely follow any developments related to HIV prevention, screening, and other essential preventive services.
